About the role#
Autism Speaks is seeking a Fall Western PA Events Intern to join the development team. This 10-week, paid internship offers experience in non-profit special events. You will assist with the planning and execution of local initiatives, including walks, 5k runs, and other community events. The intern reports to the Director of Community Engagement and will receive staff supervision and training throughout the term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with event logistics across Pittsburgh and Western PA.
- Support the planning and outreach efforts for kickoff events.
- Manage outreach and stewardship for donors, sponsors, and volunteers.
- Draft content for area marketing and communications, including email and social media.
- Help secure silent auction donations and in-kind partnerships.
- Provide administrative support and complete other tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program with the ability to receive academic credit.
- Availability to work 20 hours per week during standard business hours.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, plus attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and social media technology.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and provide customer service to various constituents.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Communications, or Public Health.
Location & details#
- This position is remote, though you must reside in the Western PA area.
- You must have access to transportation to attend meetings or events as needed.
- This is a paid, part-time internship for the Fall 2026 term.
