About the role#
Autism Speaks is seeking an Events Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This 10-week remote program offers an opportunity to gain experience in non-profit special events, including walks, 5k runs, and third-party event support. Interns will work with the development team to build skills in event timelines, planning processes, and community outreach. This position reports to the Director of Community Engagement and includes training and staff supervision.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planning logistics and outreach for events across Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.
- Support kickoff events, donor, sponsor, and volunteer outreach and stewardship.
- Draft area marketing and communications content for email and social media.
- Conduct outreach for silent auction donations and in-kind partnerships.
- Provide administrative support and perform additional tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree with eligibility to receive academic credit.
- Commitment to a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week during standard business hours.
- Superior organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and social media technology.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to take initiative within a team.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position based in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.
- Candidates must reside in Western Pennsylvania and have access to transportation for events or meetings as needed.
- This is a paid internship.
