    About the role#

    Autism Speaks is hiring two Community Engagement Interns for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semesters. This is a 10 to 12 week remote program. You will work with the development team to plan and run events in the Chicago and St. Louis areas. This role provides training and supervision to help you build skills in event timelines, planning processes, and community outreach.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with event logistics for the Empower Walk and 5K, including participant recruitment and coordinating in-kind donations.
    • Support logistics for the St. Louis Gala and Golf Tournament by coordinating volunteers, vendors, and auction items.
    • Create social media content and support area marketing efforts.
    • Manage donor, sponsor, and volunteer outreach and stewardship.
    • Provide administrative support to the development team.

    What you'll need#

    • You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications.
    • You must be able to receive academic credit for this internship.
    • You can commit to a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week during business hours.
    • You are proficient in Microsoft Office and social media technology.
    • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Location & details#

    This position is remote, but you must live in the Chicago, Illinois or St. Louis, Missouri areas. You need access to transportation to attend local events or meetings when required. This is an unpaid internship and does not offer visa sponsorship.
