About the role#
ATCO is hiring Engineering Co-op students for the Natural Gas Division. These full-time positions start in May 2027 for terms of 8, 12, or 16 months. You will work within the Natural Gas division to support the systems that transport gas across Alberta.
What you'll do#
You will join one of several departments, each focusing on different engineering tasks. Your work will include:
- Reviewing and preparing design drawings for pipelines and regulator stations.
- Developing installation procedures and technical design calculations.
- Applying technical codes and standards to design decisions.
- Coordinating project updates with internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing project estimates, forecasts, and construction schedules.
- Securing permits and approvals for project deliverables.
- Leading initiatives to improve business processes and internal engineering tools.
- Building applications using Microsoft Automate and PowerApps.
- Analyzing data to manage pipeline system risks and inform business decisions.
- Performing hydraulic modelling, material failure analysis, and long-term development planning.
- Providing administrative support to field operations and construction teams.
- Reviewing crossing agreements and coordinating field staff schedules.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate engineering co-op or internship program at a recognized Canadian university.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license may be required for some positions.

- Positions are on-site in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta.
