About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site at our San Francisco headquarters for twelve weeks. This role is designed for students currently enrolled at a four-year university.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineering teams to plan reliability tests for satellite hardware.
- Develop test plans and procedures based on design specifications and mission profiles.
- Set up, operate, and monitor environmental test equipment, including thermal chambers, thermal vacuum systems, vibration shaker tables, and combined thermal vibe chambers.
- Execute reliability tests such as thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, and vibration.
- Design test fixtures and configure instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Collect, analyze, and document test data to identify potential failure modes and ensure hardware meets reliability targets.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.
- Strong interest in hardware reliability, testing, and hands-on engineering work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing project needs.
- Strong communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required to comply with export regulations.
- Bonus points for hands-on experience with environmental testing, familiarity with DAQs, and experience with data analysis tools like Python or MATLAB.
- Exposure to hardware design, integration, or lab-based projects is preferred.
- Understanding of failure analysis, root cause investigation, or reliability engineering principles is helpful.
