About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on site in San Francisco. Interns join our engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software. You will contribute to real projects that help us expand our satellite network.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineers to design, evaluate, and test satellite systems.
- Support design trades that balance performance, risk, cost, and schedule.
- Perform thermal analysis on hardware, including propulsion components, batteries, and electronics.
- Design and procure thermal solutions like heaters, heat pipes, and surface coatings.
- Develop integration and assembly procedures to ensure thermal design requirements are met.
- Work with the integration and test team to install thermal hardware.
- Plan and run thermal vacuum testing at the component and spacecraft level.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. or M.S. program for mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
- Enthusiasm for hands-on hardware development.
- US Citizenship or Green Card status.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Familiarity with analytical thermal software like ANSYS or Thermal Desktop.
- Experience with electronics systems design and packaging.
- Previous project or internship experience related to aerospace.
