About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in satellite hardware reliability. You will work with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure our hardware meets mission requirements. The role is based in San Francisco and requires you to be onsite 5 days per week. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Plan reliability tests for satellite hardware in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Develop test plans and procedures based on design specifications.
- Set up, operate, and monitor environmental test equipment, including thermal chambers, vibration shaker tables, and thermal vacuum systems.
- Execute tests such as thermal cycling and vibration.
- Design test fixtures and configure data acquisition systems.
- Collect, analyze, and document test data to identify failure modes and verify reliability targets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Interest in hardware reliability, testing, and hands-on engineering.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project needs.
- Strong communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status.
- Hands-on experience with environmental testing, test chambers, or DAQs is a plus.
- Experience with data analysis tools like Python or MATLAB.
- Exposure to hardware design, integration, or lab-based projects.
- Understanding of root cause investigation or reliability engineering principles.
- Previous internship or project experience in aerospace or hardware environments.
