About the role#
Astranis is looking for a Power Electronics Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship based in San Francisco. You will join our power engineering team to work on flight hardware and gain hands-on experience with satellite systems. This role is intended for students currently enrolled in a four-year university program.
What you'll do#
- Build and test flight hardware alongside the power engineering team.
- Create prototype circuits and design test equipment to validate designs under stressed conditions.
- Perform lab bringup and debug hardware designs.
- Write code to automate testing and evaluate the performance of satellite hardware.
- Coordinate assembly, integration, and environmental test efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. program for electrical engineering, computer engineering, or an equivalent technical degree.
- A desire to learn about and work with power electronics systems.
- Proven ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
- Passion for hands-on hardware development.
- Experience with Altium Designer or other PCB design software, SPICE-based simulators, Python, and basic switched mode converter design is a plus.
- Comfort with soldering, rework, and standard EE lab equipment like oscilloscopes and multimeters is helpful.
