Student Worker - Food Service or Catering- Wait Staff

About the role#

This student worker position supports food service and catering operations at the University of South Carolina. This is a paid, part-time, on-site role available for the Summer 2026 term. Students from all majors, including Civil Engineering, Business Administration, and Psychology, are encouraged to apply.

What you'll do#

• Prepare and assemble food items following standardized recipes and directions.
• Serve food to customers while anticipating guest needs and maintaining satisfaction.
• Manage food storage in accordance with established standards.
• Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations, including prep tables, service counters, and hot wells.
• Replenish food items and ensure inventory remains at appropriate levels.
• Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies while ensuring the security of company assets.

What you'll need#

• Demonstrated guest service skills and a positive demeanor.
• Ability to obtain or possess a food safety certification.
• Previous food service experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to meet physical demands, which may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
• Willingness to wear uniforms or required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
