About the role#
This position is for a student worker at the Starbucks Newcomb location at the University of Virginia. You will assist with daily food preparation and customer service operations. This role is open to students across various majors, including Business Administration, Nutrition, Civil Engineering, Psychology, and Sociology.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items using standardized recipes.
- Set up workstations like prep tables, service counters, hot wells, and steam tables.
- Break down, clean, and sanitize your work area.
- Serve customers while ensuring their needs are met.
- Replenish food stock to maintain appropriate levels.
- Store food according to safety standards.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward guests, clients, and co-workers.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies while protecting company assets.
What you'll need#
- Previous food service experience is preferred.
- You must have or be willing to acquire a food safety certification.
- Strong guest service skills.
- Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing or walking for extended periods.
- Willingness to wear a uniform or use personal protective equipment.
