About the role#
This position provides students at Southern University with an opportunity to work in food service or catering operations on campus. You will gain experience in food preparation, safety standards, and customer service while balancing your academic schedule.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items using standardized recipes.
- Store food items according to established safety standards.
- Set up, clean, and sanitize workstations including prep tables and service counters.
- Serve food to customers and maintain a positive demeanor.
- Replenish food stock to ensure appropriate levels throughout service.
- Follow company safety and sanitation policies.
What you'll need#
- Ability to obtain a food safety certification.
- Strong guest service skills.
- Previous food service experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing or walking for extended periods.
- Willingness to wear a uniform or use Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- This role is open to students in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Nutrition, Kinesiology, or Public Health.
