About the role#
Bison Hospitality at Howard University is looking for a dependable IT Intern to support technology across campus dining operations. This role provides hands-on experience in technical support, systems administration, and troubleshooting. You must be a current Howard University student to be eligible for this position.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and maintain network connectivity for dining locations, offices, POS terminals, printers, kiosks, and other connected devices.
- Troubleshoot basic network, hardware, software, Wi-Fi, and connectivity issues.
- Manage Grubhub menus, pricing, operating hours, product availability, and location information.
- Resolve issues involving transactions, card readers, receipt printers, cash drawers, kitchen printers, and other POS peripherals.
- Document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and recurring system concerns.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of computers, tablets, and other equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate, bachelor, or graduate program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to work independently and recognize when an issue requires escalation.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following cybersecurity and data-protection practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
