About the role#
This position is for a Food Service/Catering Student Worker based at Towson University. You will assist with food preparation and service while gaining experience in a professional hospitality environment. This role is open to students across various fields of study, including Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, and Nutrition.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items following standardized recipes and directions.
- Store food properly according to safety standards.
- Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations like prep tables, service counters, and steam tables.
- Serve food to customers, anticipate their needs, and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Replenish food items to keep stock at appropriate levels.
- Maintain a positive demeanor and provide excellent service to guests, clients, and co-workers.
- Adhere to safety policies, including food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Previous food service experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to obtain or maintain a food safety certification.
- Strong guest service skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Willingness to wear a uniform or use personal protective equipment as required.
