About the role#
This internship provides an entry point for students to gain experience in software engineering, specifically focusing on cloud-based applications within the Customer and Revenue Systems portfolio. You will apply your engineering skills in a real-world setting while learning about existing infrastructure and development standards.
What you'll do#
- Gain knowledge about software and application infrastructure.
- Learn software development lifecycle standards.
- Provide technical and administrative support for assigned tasks.
- Support the review and build of new software capabilities.
- Ensure work adheres to engineering standards and operating instructions.
- Assist in conducting unit tests to improve system reliability.
- Enhance the cyber security posture of applications.
- Contribute to report development and suggest ideas for information capture and analysis.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited degree program for Engineering, Computer Science, or Management and Information Systems.
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate studies or sophomore status.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
- Preferred: Experience with AWS services.
- Preferred: Understanding of software development methodologies like Agile or Scrum.
- Preferred: Experience with web frameworks such as Java, Spring Boot, or Python.
- Preferred: Coursework or projects related to cloud computing or data science.

- Location: Washington, DC.
- Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18.00 to $35.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Paid internship, Amtrak rail pass privileges, and one PTO day per academic year.
- Requirements: Full-time status, pre-employment background check, and drug screen.
