About the role#
As a Power Electronics Design Intern, you will work on the design, modeling, analysis, and validation of advanced power conversion systems. You will contribute to projects involving AC-DC and DC-DC converters for low-voltage and medium-voltage applications. You will work alongside firmware, hardware, and system engineers to gain hands-on experience with control systems and laboratory validation.
What you'll do#
- Model and analyze power converters and control loops using control-oriented techniques.
- Develop and evaluate control strategies for AC-DC and DC-DC power converters.
- Characterize system behavior, including stability, transient response, and operating limits.
- Participate in laboratory testing, debugging, and hardware validation.
- Collect, analyze, and document experimental results.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on power electronics development tasks.
- Use industry-standard tools for simulation and modeling.
- Follow safe laboratory practices when working with high-voltage and high-power systems.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Academic or project experience in power electronics and control systems.
- Basic understanding of power converter operation and control concepts.
- Familiarity with control fundamentals like feedback, stability, and transient response.
- Ability to analyze technical problems and learn new concepts quickly.
- Willingness to work hands-on in a laboratory environment under supervision.
- Exposure to modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or PSIM.
- Basic programming experience in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
- Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation like oscilloscopes and power supplies.
