About the role#
Amperesand is looking for software developer interns to join our team working on grid technology. You will help build real-time embedded software systems that manage energy conversion and flow within our power platforms. Depending on your background, you may also contribute to the edge compute layer that provides diagnostics, observability, and analytics for these systems.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop real-time firmware to control power conversion stages.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review system integration plans, interface definitions, and architecture.
- Conduct hands-on validation in hardware test labs to ensure software reliability.
- Build and maintain automation tools for deployment, testing, and continuous integration of embedded code.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university program, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in C, C++, Rust, or Golang.
- A strong foundation in operating system concepts, algorithms, and database design.
- Familiarity with deployment tools.
- Ability to work in a factory or lab environment and travel when necessary.
- Strong communication skills.
- Prior experience in real-time system development or the energy domain is a plus, as are contributions to open source projects.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- This role is on-site 5 days a week in Reno, Nevada or San Francisco, California.
- We do not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
