About the role#
The American Heart Association is hiring a Marketing & Communications intern for the Atlanta office. This role supports marketing, communications, and digital engagement efforts. You will gain hands-on experience in a non-profit environment while helping to amplify our mission of building longer, healthier lives.
What you'll do#
- Create social media content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
- Design graphics and promotional materials using Canva.
- Assist with content planning and scheduling for social media channels.
- Monitor social media engagement to grow audience interaction.
- Support the development of marketing materials for community impact teams.
- Capture photos and videos at local events and assist with basic video editing.
- Research industry trends and social media best practices.
What you'll need#
- You are a senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Canva and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting social media campaigns through coursework, internships, or student organizations.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to manage projects from planning through completion.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community leaders.
- Reliable transportation and a reliable Wi-Fi connection.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Participation in professional organizations is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Hybrid in Atlanta, Georgia. You must be available to work onsite one day per week (Tuesday or Thursday).
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 25, 2027, to May 7, 2027).
- Commitment: 20 to 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm.
- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
