About the role#
Industrial Engineers at American Express act as internal business consultants for our servicing and operations groups. You will apply innovation to identify process improvement opportunities that enable better customer experiences while reducing costs. This role offers exposure to various business areas including Technology, Finance, Risk, and Marketing.
What you'll do#
- Lead projects that create a real-world impact on our business and Card Members.
- Collect data, analyze it for insights, and develop recommendations for senior leadership.
- Deploy improvements to our systems and processes.
- Drive project implementation by working with diverse customer groups.
- Create effective strategies, systems, and processes.
- Apply statistical tools and consulting techniques within the finance industry.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, International Relations, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or in teams.
- Proficiency in root cause and quantitative analysis.
- Understanding of continuous process improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience with common IE software such as Excel and SQL.
- Knowledge of IE topics like Six Sigma, lean, statistics, operations research, forecasting, or value stream mapping.
- Results-driven mindset with the ability to own projects end-to-end.
