2026 Fall Quantum Applied Science Internship, Center for Quantum Computing

About the role#

The AWS Center for Quantum Computing is a multi-disciplinary team focused on developing a fault-tolerant quantum computer. This internship provides an opportunity to work alongside global experts, utilize state-of-the-art infrastructure, and contribute to research that advances the field of quantum computing.

What you'll do#

• Develop and implement scalable solutions to advance quantum computing.
• Tackle challenging and groundbreaking research problems.
• Work with leading-edge technology and focus on targeted customer use-cases.
• Launch products that solve problems for Amazon customers.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a PhD program.
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week for a maximum of 12 weeks.
• Ability to relocate to the internship location.
• Proficiency in a scripting language such as Python or R.
• Publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
• Familiarity with areas such as superconducting qubits, cavity/circuit QED, quantum optics, open quantum systems, superconductivity, electromagnetic simulations, microwave engineering, benchmarking, or quantum error correction.
• Academic background in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or Biomedical Engineering.
