About the role#
Alleghany Highlands Community Services is hiring a Human Resources Intern to gain practical experience in a behavioral health care setting. You will work directly with our HR team to support the full employee lifecycle. This is a paid position that offers exposure to day-to-day operations and various human resources functions.
What you'll do#
- Assist with recruitment tasks, such as coordinating interviews and communicating with candidates.
- Help manage new employee onboarding and orientation processes.
- Maintain personnel files, employee records, and HR documentation.
- Support professional development and training activities.
- Prepare HR forms, resources, and internal communications.
- Contribute to employee recognition and engagement initiatives.
- Assist with compliance tasks and process-improvement projects.
- Handle sensitive organizational information with discretion and confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program studying Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology, or a related field.
- A desire to gain hands-on experience in the Human Resources field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate professionally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
- A proactive approach to asking questions and taking initiative.

- This role is based on-site in Covington, Virginia.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
