About the role#
AlixPartners is seeking Summer Analysts to join the Risk Analytics team in New York. You will support our Risk Advisory service line by applying finance, accounting, and data analytics skills to help clients navigate complex business issues. This internship involves working on matters such as commercial litigation, business valuations, and investigations. You will transform high-volume data into clear insights to inform high-stakes decisions.
What you'll do#
- Apply finance, accounting, and operational concepts to frame analyses and test hypotheses in client matters.
- Extract, reconcile, validate, and analyze data from complex enterprise systems.
- Build and manage large, complex datasets, turning raw inputs into structured tables and workflows.
- Develop structured client-ready materials that translate analyses into actionable insights.
- Use analytics tools to deliver meaningful insights through interactive visualizations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Basic knowledge of accounting, statistics, financial, and econometric modeling.
- Proficiency in SQL to query, join, and manipulate data from relational databases.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with PowerPoint.
- Working proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, R, or VB.NET.
- Experience using analytics, data transformation, and visualization tools.
- Knowledge of applied AI/ML concepts and experience with AI-enabled tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated experience performing analytical or quantitative work.
- Ability to work in team-based environments and interact professionally with senior stakeholders.
- Strong academic performance, with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June to August).
- Work Modality: Hybrid with regular in-person presence required in the New York office.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 100% Monday through Friday as required.
- Schedule: Ability to work full time and willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours as needed.
