About the role#
Software Engineer Interns at Akuna Capital work on high-performance systems that power the firm's core business operations. You will be embedded in a team, working on projects that range from initial ideation and design to final delivery and maintenance. This role involves resolving complex coding problems, contributing to overall system reliability, and implementing new componentry or adding functionality to existing systems. You will engage directly with Quant and Trading teams to gather requirements and develop technical solutions.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain heavily multithreaded, asynchronous, and distributed systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address specific domain requirements.
- Develop solutions that are efficient, scalable, and flexible for niche use cases.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle for technical projects.
- Apply creative problem-solving to address novel technical challenges.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Expected graduation date by August 2028.
- Experience programming in modern C++ (C++20 or later; C++23 preferred).
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to react quickly and effectively to rapidly changing market conditions.
