About the role#
The Technical Writing team maintains a documentation system that supports work across Zipline products and operations. We partner with engineering, operations, and support teams to translate complex information into manuals, procedures, guides, and troubleshooting content. You will manage the full documentation lifecycle, from understanding user needs to organizing, editing, and publishing content.
What you'll do#
- Review and improve manuals, procedures, and guides for clarity, accuracy, and usability.
- Update existing materials to reflect current product behavior.
- Improve site navigation and content structure to help readers find information.
- Reorganize troubleshooting pages to better lead users into step-by-step guidance.
- Simplify onboarding documentation by clarifying prerequisites, setup, and contribution guidelines.
- Read technical source material to identify documentation gaps.
- Work with technical writers, engineers, and operations partners to validate accuracy and incorporate feedback.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to people with varying levels of technical familiarity.
- Interest in learning how software, hardware, and operational systems function.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to structure complex information and manage multiple tasks.
- Collaborative, self-directed work style and comfort receiving feedback.
- Experience with version-controlled workflows, content management systems, or AI tools is a plus.
- Interest in robotics, aviation, or logistics is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is based on-site in South San Francisco, California.
- This position follows a rolling term.
