About the role#
A chip is not a product until it is a working system. This role involves getting silicon to boot and validating it correctly, including building the board, power, mechanical, thermal, packaging, and IO components. You will submit one application and we will match you to a specific team based on your background and location. This is a full-time, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist in post-silicon testing of physical microchips to ensure they meet functional, electrical, and performance specifications.
- Contribute to developing foundational software, including firmware, drivers, and operating systems.
- Help map out, define, and evaluate high-level structural frameworks.
- Optimize power delivery and high-speed performance benchmarks for silicon components and PCBs.
- Perform design and layout for semiconductor packaging.
- Conduct electromagnetic signal and power integrity analysis.
- Perform mechanical design and stress analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Coursework or projects in embedded systems, microwave and signal integrity, board-level design, or thermal/mechanical engineering.
- Experience with low-level programming in C, C++, or Python.
- Experience with hardware design or simulation tools such as CAD, FEA, or Verilog.
- Strong foundational knowledge in electrical engineering, digital logic, computer architecture, or thermal/mechanical systems.
- A curious approach to the intersection of software, silicon architecture, and the physical constraints of chip packaging and PCBs.
Location & details#
- Locations: Austin, Texas or Santa Clara, California.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling.
- Employment: Full-time paid internship.
