About the role#
As a Quality & Manufacturing Intern, you will work within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Quality Engineering teams. You will contribute to the lifecycle of Zipline products, from early design and prototyping to high-volume production. This role involves maintaining assembly lines, designing equipment, and ensuring product quality through rigorous standards and continuous improvement.
What you'll do#
- Assist with Design for X conversations alongside internal and external stakeholders for sub-assemblies.
- Support the planning, budgeting, procurement, and commissioning of assembly lines and associated equipment.
- Conduct time studies to maintain the Manufacturing Capacity Model.
- Create and update process documentation throughout the program lifecycle.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance line performance and reduce costs.
- Monitor manufacturing processes and assist in root cause analysis for production issues.
- Help implement corrective and preventive actions using frameworks like 8D or Pareto analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Completion of at least the second year of undergraduate studies. Masters and PhD students are eligible.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a preference for NX.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings including GD&T.
- Knowledge of traditional and non-traditional manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal stamping, 3D printing, and PCBA manufacturing.
- Understanding of problem-solving frameworks and RCA/CAPA techniques.

- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
