About the role#
As a Student Employee - Lab Technician at Zekelman Industries in Farrell, PA, you will support the Technical Team through hands-on testing, analysis, and data management. This part-time, on-site position is designed for a student pursuing a technical degree who wants to apply classroom knowledge in a manufacturing environment. Hours are determined based on your class schedule.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical testing of pipe and tubing samples to ensure product quality.
- Conduct chemical testing of process tanks to maintain process integrity.
- Analyze data using Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to identify trends.
- Perform hardness testing and record results.
- Input test data into computer systems and maintain records.
- Scan and organize order documentation and test backups.
- Support additional lab and technical projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or university, preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
- Commitment to regular, predictable onsite attendance.
- Ability to promote and adhere to health and safety practices.
- Ability to pass a drug test, physical, and background check.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or handle testing materials and equipment.
