About the role#
As an AI Intern at Zekelman Industries, you will support digital transformation and process improvement initiatives. You will report to the AI and Innovation team and gain hands-on experience applying AI and automation to business processes. You will work with teams across HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, IT, and Marketing to analyze workflows and test new solutions. This role is based on-site at our Wheatland Tube plant.
What you'll do#
- Document current business processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze workflows and data to inform automation and AI initiatives.
- Prepare process maps, summaries, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Assist with pilot projects for AI tools and digital productivity solutions.
- Create training materials, guides, and internal communications for AI adoption.
- Track project progress, basic KPIs, and outcomes.
- Research emerging AI tools and share findings with the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Interest in AI, automation, process improvement, and digital transformation.
- Comfort working with data, documentation, and process-oriented tasks.
- Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and diagramming tools like Visio or Lucidchart.
- Exposure to AI tools, automation platforms, or programming concepts through coursework or projects.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse teams.
- Interest in manufacturing or industrial environments.
