About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern at our Wheatland Tube facility, you will support projects that improve operational efficiency, productivity, and product quality. You will work with the Department Manager, the maintenance team, and other departments to assist with facility layout planning, process flow optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site internship that provides hands-on experience with manufacturing systems, data analysis, and industrial engineering tools.
What you'll do#
- Plan and design plant layouts using CAD tools and drafting software.
- Analyze workflows and material movement to generate scale drawings for optimal equipment and personnel placement.
- Establish and support labor standards through work measurement programs and time study analysis.
- Collect and analyze operational data to improve process effectiveness.
- Lead or assist in continuous improvement projects to enhance quality, throughput, and cost savings.
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes, equipment functionality, and standard methods.
- Collaborate with teams to identify root causes of net yield loss.
- Maintain documentation including work instructions, routings, and blueprints.
- Analyze prime net yield and other performance indicators to support profitability.
- Conduct experiments to optimize operations and report findings to management.
- Promote and follow healthy and safe work practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with CAD or drafting software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus.
- Ability to travel for the Internship Summit.
