About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Sharon Tube, you will support projects that improve operational efficiency, productivity, and product quality. You will work with the Department Manager and the maintenance team to assist with facility layout planning, process flow optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Niles, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Plan and design plant layouts using CAD tools and drafting software.
- Analyze workflows and material movement to generate scale drawings.
- Establish labor standards through work measurement programs and time study analysis.
- Collect and analyze operational data to improve process effectiveness.
- Lead or assist in projects to enhance quality, throughput, and cost savings.
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes, equipment functionality, and standard methods.
- Collaborate with teams to identify root causes of net yield loss.
- Maintain documentation including work instructions, routings, and blueprints.
- Analyze prime net yield and other performance indicators.
- Conduct experiments to optimize operations and report findings.
- Promote and follow healthy and safe work practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with CAD or drafting software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus.
- Availability to travel for the company Internship Summit.
