About the role#
Zekelman Industries is looking for a Production Analytics & AI Intern to work on-site at our Wheatland Tube facility in Wheatland, Pennsylvania. This role sits at the intersection of manufacturing operations, production planning, and data science. You will work alongside our Production Planning and AI & Innovation teams to improve how we make, measure, and optimize production decisions. You will spend time on the manufacturing floor to learn how steel pipe and tube production operates while identifying ways to improve processes through data and automation.
What you'll do#
- Analyze manufacturing, inventory, and scheduling data to support production planning.
- Study production workflows and recommend improvements through automation, digitalization, or AI.
- Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations to assist with planning decisions.
- Document current and future-state planning workflows and operational processes.
- Assist with pilot projects involving AI tools and digital productivity solutions.
- Collect and validate data related to production performance.
- Research new technologies and analytical approaches for manufacturing.
- Prepare presentations and recommendations for leadership and operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- A strong interest in manufacturing, production planning, and digital transformation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Ability to analyze data and translate findings into business recommendations.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment and communicating with diverse teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Preferred: Exposure to SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools.
- Preferred: Knowledge of AI tools, automation, or machine learning concepts through coursework or projects.
