About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support professional engineers and scientists on projects related to TRISO-X fuel fabrication. You will work under guided supervision to assist with daily departmental operations while learning from experienced professionals. This is a pipeline requisition for anticipated openings for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support active engineering projects and technical analyses.
- Contribute to TRISO-X fuel fabrication initiatives.
- Provide support for day-to-day team operations.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, meetings, and project discussions by offering input and feedback.
- Attend team meetings to share ideas and suggestions.
- Organize and maintain project files, documents, and records.
- Conduct research and gather information for ongoing projects.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and other materials.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, civil, or nuclear engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset.
- Academic or hands-on knowledge in CAD or P&ID.
- Experience with industrial equipment design, procurement, installation, and operation.
- A letter of recommendation from a professor, academic advisor, employer, or professional mentor.
Location & details#
- Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10-week program).
- Work Modality: Fully on-site, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.
- Employment Type: Part-time, paid internship.
- Compensation: $25 per hour for undergraduates; $40 per hour for graduate students.
