About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support active engineering projects and analyses within your specific area of study. You will work alongside engineers and industry professionals to contribute to real reactor design and licensing efforts. Under guided supervision, you will assist with daily technical and operational needs while gaining experience in the nuclear electric power generation field.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering projects and analyses related to your field of study.
- Assist with the day-to-day technical and operational requirements of your team.
- Conduct research, gather technical data, and synthesize findings to support design initiatives.
- Help develop reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Organize and maintain project files and technical records to ensure quality.
- Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in mechanical, electrical, or nuclear engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Hands-on experience with hardware development, testing, and experimentation.
- Demonstrated experience with design of experiment and test planning.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- At least one letter of recommendation from a professor, academic advisor, employer, or professional mentor.
Location & details#
- Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Fully on-site, 5 days per week.
- Schedule: Standard office hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $25 per hour for undergraduate students and $40 per hour for graduate students.
