About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support professional engineering teams. You will work alongside engineers and industry experts on projects related to your field of study. This is a pipeline requisition for Summer 2027. We review applications on a rolling basis and extend offers as specific team needs are confirmed.
What you'll do#
- Support active engineering projects and analyses.
- Assist with daily technical and operational tasks.
- Research and gather technical data to inform design initiatives.
- Create reports, technical documentation, and presentations.
- Maintain project files and technical records.
- Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering, or a related field.
- Academic or hands-on design knowledge in areas such as site development, grading, roadway, survey, stormwater, hydrology, soil mechanics, steel/concrete structures, or architectural components.
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD modeling or BIM.
- Experience with structural analysis using hand calculations or finite element analysis software like ANSYS, LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, ADINA, or OpenSees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset.
- Submission of at least one letter of recommendation from a professor, advisor, or professional mentor.
Location & details#
- Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland.
- Modality: Fully on-site, 5 days per week.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.
- Compensation: $25 per hour for undergraduate students and $40 per hour for graduate students.
- Status: Part-time, non-exempt.
