About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support engineering projects and contribute to technical work under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will work alongside engineers and scientists to assist with daily operations and project goals. This is a pipeline requisition for Summer 2027, and we review applications on a rolling basis as specific team needs are confirmed.
What you'll do#
- Support active engineering projects, analyses, and design efforts.
- Assist with day-to-day technical and operational tasks.
- Conduct research and gather technical data to inform design initiatives.
- Develop reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Organize and maintain project files and technical records.
- Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
- At least one year of demonstrated hands-on experience developing and delivering hardware or manufacturing processes. This may include industry internships, hobby projects, or collegiate engineering teams.
- Academic or hands-on knowledge in at least one of these areas: mechanical design, thermodynamics, structural analysis, thermal hydraulics, or mechanical process equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A letter of recommendation from a professor, academic advisor, employer, or professional mentor.
Location & details#
- Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland.
- Work Modality: Fully on-site, 5 days per week.
- Term: Summer 2027 (anticipated 10-week program from June to August).
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.
- Compensation: $25 per hour for undergraduate students; $40 per hour for graduate students.
