About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern for the summer of 2027. This 12-week program allows you to work alongside senior staff and gain hands-on experience on real projects. You will participate in the Developing Professionals Network, which provides mentorship and networking opportunities. This is a paid, on-site position based in Austin, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn the basic principles of electrical engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training tasks.
- Follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct, and make ethical decisions regarding resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and harassment policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.
