About the role#
WithersRavenel is hiring a Water/Wastewater Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time position where you will work alongside our Utilities team to move designs from concept to completion. You will gain exposure to professional project workflows and contribute to real-world engineering tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist with data review and research relevant codes and standards.
- Help develop layouts and design concepts for water and wastewater projects.
- Create detailed drawings and technical reports.
- Use industry software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D to generate project deliverables.
- Support the team by keeping project documentation organized.
- Participate in occasional job site visits.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Biological & Agricultural Engineering.
- A strong interest in applying your classroom knowledge to professional projects.
- Ability to stay organized and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microsoft Office.
- Ability to perform occasional physical tasks, such as carrying equipment up to 25 pounds or sitting for extended periods.

- This internship is located in Cary, NC or Charlotte, NC.
- The role is on-site.
- The term runs from mid-May through early August 2027.
- A housing stipend is provided for the summer session.
