About the role#
This position offers hands-on experience within the BWR Tooling and Technology Engineering team. You will work part-time during the school year to support various engineering assignments. This role involves collaboration with design engineers, field service technicians, and subject matter experts to assist with mechanical assembly, equipment handling, and data management.
What you'll do#
- Assemble mechanical equipment and provide progress updates.
- Conduct product research for mechanical and electrical components.
- Support load testing and documentation for specialized lifting devices.
- Pack and unpack equipment for field delivery or internal projects.
- Operate shop equipment including hand tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Use machine tools, electrical test equipment, welding gear, and service tools to assist with nuclear equipment repair.
- Manage equipment tracking and update SharePoint sites.
- Organize the engineering shop area and assist with purchasing.
- Handle material logistics for customer demos and internal training.
- Draft using 3D software as needed.
- Update procedures and route documents in the repository.
- Follow Human Performance Tools, INPO Principles, Industrial Health and Safety, ALARA principles, and security protocols.
- Participate in safety observations to support the Nuclear Safety Culture.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student with an interest in technical work.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems.
- Detail-oriented approach to managing multiple tasks independently.
