About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience with industrial automation, programmable logic controller (PLC) programming, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on real projects that support water and wastewater infrastructure. This is a practical role where you will take ownership of specific deliverables and contribute to systems that protect public health and community resilience.
What you'll do#
- Assist with PLC programming and SCADA configuration activities.
- Support troubleshooting, commissioning, system upgrades, and operational testing.
- Develop technical documentation including control strategies, standard operating procedures, and technical memorandums.
- Support SCADA Master Plan development, including existing condition assessments, conceptual alternatives analysis, and implementation planning.
- Assist with electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering and design tasks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project coordination and research.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Cybersecurity, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- Foundational understanding of engineering, troubleshooting, or programming concepts.
- Strong interest in industrial automation, operational technology, control systems, and critical infrastructure.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines consistently.

- Location: Phoenix, Arizona.
- This is an on-site position requiring in-office presence for all hours worked.
- This is a paid, full-time, rolling internship.
