About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, and SCADA systems. You will work within the Operations Technology, Cybersecurity, and Resilience group to support critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is not a shadowing role. You will contribute to real projects alongside experienced engineers, taking ownership of specific tasks to help provide safe and reliable water services.
What you'll do#
- Assist with PLC programming and SCADA configuration activities.
- Support electrical and controls engineers with drawings and design documentation.
- Participate in troubleshooting, system commissioning, upgrades, and operational testing.
- Develop technical documentation, including control strategies, standard operating procedures, and technical memorandums.
- Support SCADA Master Plan development efforts, such as condition assessments and implementation planning.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project tasks and research emerging technologies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
- Foundational knowledge of engineering, electrical concepts, troubleshooting, or programming.
- Ability to learn new technical systems and apply problem-solving skills in a team setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.
