About the role#
This internship focuses on industrial automation, PLC programming, SCADA systems, and operational technology within critical infrastructure. You will work alongside engineers and consultants on real projects that support water and wastewater infrastructure. This is a hands-on position where you will contribute to systems that protect public health and improve infrastructure resilience.
What you'll do#
- Assist with PLC programming and SCADA configuration activities.
- Help electrical and controls engineers with drawings and design documentation.
- Support troubleshooting, commissioning, system upgrades, and operational testing.
- Assist in developing technical documentation, including control strategies, standard operating procedures, and technical memorandums.
- Support SCADA Master Plan development efforts, including assessments and implementation planning.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project tasks and research emerging technologies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- Foundational understanding of engineering, electrical concepts, troubleshooting, or programming.
- Ability to learn technical systems and apply problem-solving skills within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on technical documentation.
- Interest in industrial automation, control systems, and critical infrastructure.

- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Modality: This is an on-site role requiring an in-office presence for all hours worked.
- Status: Full-time, rolling term.
