About the role#
WEC Energy Group is hiring a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Chicago, Illinois. You will work with the Illinois Safety and Health Team to support operations and maintain a safe workplace for employees at PGL and NSG.
What you'll do#
- Conduct industrial hygiene exposure monitoring for physical, biological, and chemical agents to track employee exposures.
- Audit safety and health performance by observing work practices and interviewing staff.
- Identify areas for improvement and share findings and solutions with facility management.
- Deliver safety and health training programs and materials.
- Assist Safety and Health Consultants with the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
- Act as a professional resource for employees and department leaders.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Public Health, Environmental Engineering, Nursing, Industrial Engineering, Health Administration, or a closely related field.
- A graduation date after July 2027.
- A minimum GPA of 2.8.
- A valid driver license.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
