About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with the Systems Engineering team to help validate the performance of the Waymo Driver. This role focuses on behavior testing, ensuring our vehicles operate safely and reliably across diverse scenarios.
What you'll do#
- Design metrics, test plans, and simulated scenarios to test the autonomous vehicle during off-nominal situations.
- Build dashboards to monitor, visualize, and analyze fault rates for our fleet on public roads.
- Support the Verification and Validation of Fault Protection and Remote Assistance behaviors.
- Build automated pipelines with Python and SQL to update, version, and validate test coverage for safety-critical driving scenarios.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with data analysis and modeling using Python and SQL.
- A desire to understand complex systems and how their components interact.
- Familiarity with autonomous vehicle technology and systems engineering principles is preferred.
- Comfort working through ambiguous problems.
