About the role#
As an Actuarial Intern, you will work with a high degree of autonomy to support our actuarial group. You will apply knowledge from your academic studies and the actuarial exam system to help solve business problems and answer questions. This role provides an opportunity to gain diverse experience and contribute to a growing team.
What you'll do#
- Research, extract, and manipulate complex data from relevant sources.
- Identify relationships, issues, and assess data quality.
- Perform analysis and reviews while ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and test underlying assumptions.
- Implement opportunities to automate routine tasks.
- Develop and implement a solution for a current business challenge.
- Build your understanding of industry and company terminology.
- Handle other duties as requested by management.
What you'll need#
- You are in your second or third year of a Commerce or Science degree with an Actuarial pattern.
- You are currently pursuing your FCIA designation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply principles of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, finance, and business.
- Proficiency with computers and the ability to translate ideas into various programming languages.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust complexity based on your audience.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner.
- Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. You may work remotely or from one of our offices in Winnipeg, Wawanesa, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, North York, Kitchener, Ottawa, Montreal, Moncton, or Dartmouth.
- Employees working in a hybrid capacity are expected to be in-office for 2 days per week or 15 hours per week.
- This role requires full proficiency in English for regular interaction with customers across Canada.
