About the role#
Water & Environmental Technologies is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in our Great Falls office, this full-time, paid position offers hands-on experience with consulting projects throughout the Rocky Mountain region. You will work alongside experienced engineers to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
This role involves a mix of office and field work. You will participate in the following activities:
- Assist with the design and development of civil engineering projects.
- Prepare plans, specifications, technical reports, and permit applications.
- Perform field inspections, site assessments, and construction observations.
- Collect and document field data and measurements.
- Assist with surveying, site layout, and other field tasks.
- Perform engineering calculations and data analysis.
- Prepare construction cost estimates and quantity takeoffs.
- Use engineering software and CAD programs.
- Review technical documents and specifications.
- Participate in project meetings with managers and technical staff.
- Travel to project sites as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering or related program at an accredited college or university.
- Completed coursework in civil engineering fundamentals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn new software, technical processes, and procedures.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel to project sites.
- Previous internship, field, or engineering-related experience is preferred.
