About the role#
Geosyntec Consultants is hiring an intern or co-op for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time position for 13 to 15 weeks. You will work on-site in either Pennington or Bloomfield, New Jersey. The role focuses on applying academic knowledge in civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, or water resources engineering to real-world projects. We prefer candidates who can return for up to two additional semester rotations.
What you'll do#
- Perform fieldwork including soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, and drilling or contractor oversight.
- Run engineering calculations using technical software.
- Write technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Handle data input and analysis, including the preparation of maps, tables, and figures.
- Collaborate with engineers, geologists, administrative staff, CADD operators, and contractors.
- Travel to project sites or offices using personal, company, or rental vehicles.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program for a relevant engineering discipline.
- Focus area in civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, or water resources engineering.
- Upper division or Master’s level standing.
- A valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a satisfactory driving record.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CADD, or ArcView is preferred.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Pennington, NJ or Bloomfield, NJ.
- Compensation for Pennington ranges from $22.98 to $32.18 per hour.
- Compensation for Bloomfield ranges from $24.02 to $33.63 per hour.
- This role is paid and includes eligibility for benefits such as paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
