    About the role#

    Geosyntec Consultants is hiring a Civil or Environmental Engineering intern for our Richmond, Virginia office. This full-time position lasts 13 to 15 weeks during the winter or summer of 2027. You will work alongside engineers and designers on projects involving site development, grading design, stormwater management, erosion control, and utility design.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform engineering calculations using computer-based tools.
    • Prepare construction documents, reports, letters, memoranda, specifications, and proposals.
    • Manage data input and analysis, including the creation of site plans, GIS mapping, tables, and figures.
    • Collaborate with engineers, geologists, administrative staff, CADD operators, and contractors.
    • Conduct limited fieldwork, such as site evaluations, soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, and drilling oversight.
    • Travel locally to project sites or business locations using personal, company, or rental vehicles.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program for Civil or Environmental Engineering.
    • Strong academic record with clear technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • A valid U.S. driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation.
    • Preferred experience includes CADD (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Bentley Microstation), ArcGIS, HydroCAD, Bentley Flowmaster, or Microsoft Office.
    • Preference is given to students in their senior year or Master’s program, particularly those focused on land development, hydrology, transportation, or water resources.

    • Location: Richmond, Virginia.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
    • Terms: Winter 2027 or Summer 2027.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position.
