About the role#
This is a Manufacturing Engineering internship based at the Volvo New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia. You will work directly with engineering professionals to apply your academic studies to real projects in a vehicle production environment. This role is for the Fall 2026 term and is a paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the implementation of workplace organization and standardized work at individual stations.
- Apply lean manufacturing practices directly on the shop floor.
- Review existing labor standards to identify ways to improve utilization and remove non-value added work.
- Participate in training and development activities to support team deliverables.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Industrial Engineering degree program at an accredited school.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to monitor adherence to standards.
- Reliability and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

- Hours: Up to 30 hours per week.
- Compensation: $17.00 - $46.00 per hour, depending on factors such as academic classification and location.
