About the role#
The Virginia Department of Transportation offers a paid internship program for students interested in public service. What you'll do#
- Provide administrative support services to assigned program areas.
- Research, compile data, and prepare reports or presentations.
- Recommend resolutions to administrative or business problems.
- Assume responsibility for special projects and assignments.
- Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Perform special duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled full-time in an Associate’s degree program or higher, with a status of rising sophomore or equivalent.
- Maintain full-time status of 12 or more credit hours for undergraduates or 9 or more credit hours for graduates before and after the internship.
- At least 18 years of age by the start of employment.
- Knowledge of business principles, office policies, and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret regulations, solve problems, and make logical decisions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A background in Business, Accounting, or a related field is desired.

- This position is located in Salem, Virginia.
- The role is on-site and full-time.
- All positions require pre-employment screenings, including a criminal history background check, DMV record check, work history verification, references, a physical, and a drug screen.
