About the role#
Viking Global Investors is hiring an Execution Research Fellow to work with our trading and technology teams. This fellowship lasts 10 to 12 weeks, with a target start date in summer 2026 and potential for extension into the fall. You will work under the Head of Execution Research on projects involving market microstructure, data infrastructure, and execution optimization. This is a fixed-term position with no expectation of a pathway to full-time employment.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate, clean, and analyze high-frequency and tick-level market data.
- Assess and document trading infrastructure, including exchange connectivity.
- Research algorithmic routing strategies and smart order routing design.
- Perform quantitative analysis of order routing across venues.
- Share research findings and insights with trading and investment teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s degree or PhD program in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Hands-on experience with tick data or high-frequency market data.
- Proficiency in Python, specifically with data-intensive libraries.
- Familiarity with market microstructure, execution algorithms, or trading systems.
- Ability to present quantitative findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

- Compensation: This is a paid position with a base salary of $195,000, prorated for the duration of the fellowship.
