About the role#
This is a hands-on summer internship where you will work as a member of the IT team. Over ten weeks, you will own projects across four areas: modern device deployment, service desk support, IT automation, and knowledge management. You will work with enterprise tools and help teams learn to use AI solutions to simplify their work. At the end of the summer, you will present your results and metrics to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Deploy new workstations using Intune and Autopilot, from imaging through to end-user hand-off.
- Verify device security baselines, maintain accurate asset records, and update the deployment runbook.
- Triage and resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 tickets in Jira Service Management.
- Manage account provisioning, password resets, and access requests.
- Clean up service desk request types and build forms, automation rules, and SLA dashboards.
- Pilot an AI or scripting solution for repetitive tasks and measure the results.
- Write and update knowledge base articles and organize IT documentation in the library.
- Attend company-sponsored training, seminars, and events.
- Provide periodic updates to managers and peers.
- Complete a summer-end presentation summarizing your work and lessons learned.
- Understand and promote the division’s quality management system.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an associate or bachelor’s degree program in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, network administration, or a related field.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Curiosity about how technology works.
- Comfort presenting to groups and explaining technical topics in plain language.
- Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality.
- Proficiency with computers and mobile technology.
- Familiarity with Windows, MacOS, or ticketing systems is a plus.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
