About the role#
The IT Business Application Intern will support our business systems, data, and technology initiatives. You will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment by working closely with the IT team. This role involves supporting our ERP environment, troubleshooting user requests, and exploring practical applications of artificial intelligence and automation.
What you'll do#
- Investigate application issues with IT team members and business users to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Assist with the configuration, testing, and development of ERP functionality, integrations, workflows, reports, and process automation.
- Support data warehouse, reporting, and analytics initiatives through validation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Write and review SQL queries to support data analysis and reporting.
- Research and prototype practical uses of artificial intelligence, generative AI, and automation to improve business processes.
- Participate in daily stand ups, sprint planning, and other project meetings.
- Collaborate with vendors and project stakeholders.
- Work with an assigned mentor to complete internship goals and present a summer-end summary of your work.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of computer science concepts, databases, and information systems.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases, with experience writing basic queries preferred.
- Exposure to programming or scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, Java, or C#.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document technical processes and communicate findings clearly.
- Curiosity regarding how artificial intelligence and machine learning can solve business problems.

- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
