About the role#
The IT Student Intern works with the VCU Health IT team to gain hands-on experience. You will contribute to real-world projects that support our clinical and business departments. This role provides exposure to how technology supports healthcare operations in Richmond, Virginia.
What you'll do#
- Develop and apply technical knowledge to support department and organizational initiatives.
- Identify complex problems, research information, design options, and implement solutions.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies through collaboration.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for safety and follow high reliability organization concepts.
- Participate in special projects and accept alternate responsibilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology program at a local, accredited school.
- At least one previous internship or prior relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as a self-learner.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Location & details#
- This is a part-time, on-site position located in Richmond, Virginia.
- The internship term operates on a rolling basis.
- Compensation is $20.00 per hour, with final offers based on experience and qualifications.
- This role involves a general office environment with physical requirements including lifting up to 50 pounds and repetitive arm or hand movements.
